Sonreal - Go For Broke prod. Superville (NEW)

Sonreal - Go For Broke
Produced by Superville
Dj Booth Freestyle Series #33

Oft imitated but never equaled, the DJBooth Freestyle Series ran from February 2009 through June 2011. Its 250 total entries were the work of a veritable who’s-who of underground and emerging emcees, including rising stars like Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller. Now, it’s back for a second round.

The 33rd entry in the relaunched series comes courtesy of SonReal, the Vancouver rhymesayer who recently won Booth acclaim for Live This. On Go for Broke, the unsigned emcee flexes his lyrical muscles over original production by Superville. Fred Lozano provides original artwork to accompany the freestyle.

If this freestyle’s piqued your interest, you can hear more on SonReal’s One Long Day LP, available now for free streaming and download in the Booth.

Saukrates - #FYEO ft. Sonreal (New)

Saukrates featuring Sonreal - #FYEO
Produced by Rich Kidd
From his ep: Amani
Vancouver/Toronto 2015

arrived on the hip-hop scene of the early-Nineties, a post-Native
Tongues rapper and producer who pioneered the Canadian hip-hop scene. He
has been awarded multiple Juno nominations for Best Rap Recording and
through his career has collaborated with the likes of Drake, Nelly
Furtado, Nas, Common, Redman, and Xzibit to name a few.

A fixture
in the top-tiers of the Canadian hip-hop scene, he is present as a
rapper, singer or producer on almost every Canadian major label hip-hop
release over the past 20 years. Providing the likes of K-os, Swollen
Members, Jully Black, Rascalz, Kardinal Offishal, and Choclair with his
unique style of production that has become synonymous with the
Torontonian hip-hop sound. Recently he has maintained his prevalence
working with the best of the new breed of Canadian rappers such as:
Classified, Shad, Tre Mission, SonReal, and OB Obrien.

September 23rd, he is positioned to issue his 4th release, “Amani” a
4-track EP featuring co-production by Rich Kidd and Snaz, and guest
appearances by SonReal. The release of Amani is a defining moment in
Saukrates’ career as he wipes the slate clean to begin a new chapter. A
chapter in which Saukrates is more introspective, experimental and
fervent in his approach to music.

The EP begins with “Kingdom
Come”, based around an orchestral soul loop, chopped and spliced by
SNAZ, that sets the backdrop perfectly for Saukrates’ staccato flow.
Saukrates then harnesses a reflective tone on the Rich Kidd produced
“Amani” as he takes on the perspective of his fans on the first two
verses, answering their questions on the third verse. Rich Kidd then
provides a infatuated Saukrates with a smooth half-time strip club
friendly banger on “#FYEO” while Son Real lends his his smoked out
sultry vocals on the hook. The final track, “The Big Bang” is a tongue
twisting lyrical melee where he discusses his wife, his child and his
past, while still slipping in the necessary hip hop bravado. Throughout
the EP you can sense a re-birth or more fittingly for Saukrates an
artist definitively finding his stride.

In Saukrates’ succinct
words: “Kingdom come: street corner Amani: intellectual smoker’s
lounge #FYEO: burlesque show The Big Bang: cipher Result:
all club, all car, all life.”

Willie Young Concious

A Canadian/Ghanaian aspiring Hip-Hop Emcee from Vancouver; also an independent artist under Golden Coast Entertainment & Records / QuietStorm Production.

The Founder of Golden Coast Entertainment & Records

Formally known for his DEBUT MIXTAPE #LYRICAL22…xtape.664175.html

Willliam Takyi-Prah or better known for his stage name "Willie Young Conscious" is a promising Hip-Hop artist from Vancouver, British Columbia.

Although born and raised in Vancouver, will gets his best qualities from his parents who are of ghanaian decent. Since he was a child, respect, importance of education, and loyalty were some traits embedded into his mind at an early age. Second to William'€™s first talent which is music, is his love for basketball. The sport had taken him to various parts of the United States. Will travelled to cities such as Miami, Las Vegas, Seattle & LA; for highly anticipated AAU basketball tournaments, most of which had featured some of the top prospects in the nation. He later arrived at a conclusion to pursue his music career in place of his fond affection for basketball. Willie included the acronym "YC"€ in his artist name to capture two distinct meanings. The first of which is his well known alias, "Young Corleone". This was initially inspired by the movie "The Godfather"€, and one of his musical inspirations "Big L". With new found insights, Willie attained a level of higher consciousness, which led him to establish the name "Young Conscious". Will was introduced to music at an early age and has always been committed to reaching his full potential. As an artist Will passes down a powerful message to his audience of overcoming obstacles and striving through difficulty. He believes it is essential to stay true to one's personal endeavors. Positivity drives him as he tries to reflect that upon his fans. Willie's relentless vision of success and appreciation for his music puts him on the fast track to making a household name, while growing an army of loyal fans.
