Zac Flewids - ABC's (prod. Canis Major)

ARTIST LIMELIGHT: ZAC FLEWIDS

We are back with our artist Limelight series and this time we are shedding some light on 17 year old Vancouver artist Zac Flewids.

Growing up in Burnaby, Zac had a passion for the entertainment industry starting early in life which began with producing and directing his own short films.
This passion would always involve music, where he would listen to a wide variety of artists, old and new. His interest in hip hop, however, took a more serious
approach after becoming exposed to Logic's mixtape "Undeniable". He would soon learn that he could use music as an outlet to relieve stress.

Starting with a slew of remixes over some of his favourite artists beats, Zac Flewids first grabbed our attention with his complex, dynamic flows and his precise syllable
work that is reminicent of the musicians he's studied. Late 2014 saw the release of his first mixtape "Highest Common Faktor" which was accompanied by several music videos.
The video's themselves were directed and produced by Zac & Sebastian Busse and demonstrated his showmanship and comfort in front of a camera.

Zac is currently gearing up to release his second free mixtape `Conversations By The Apple Tree` due this coming Tuesday, August 4th. It mainly reflects upon overcoming personal insecurities,
temptation, and growing into an emerging musician through the eyes of a west coast suburbanite. Although he holds the sole vocals on the
project, it`s received production from a host of different people including: Canis Major, NewDersey, Ricky Vela, CMBeats, Triad Matilda, Harlow, Rhakim Ali, MjNicols, Lasik,
NP-Courtney, and Donato. You can catch Zac Flewids yourself tomorrow as he performs at the Electric Love Music Festival(Aug 1st)( http://electriclovemusicfestival.com/ )

There are already several music video's available from his new mixtape. Check out one of our favourite "ABC's" below and don't forget to check out his page here: https://www.facebook.com/FaktorPulse

Bio:
Zac Flewids is a young, dedicated lyricist and recording artist from Vancouver, Canada who touches base on many issues through his diligence, linguistics, and complex rhyme schemes. He successfully does his best to avoid the stereotypical rap atmosphere by introducing an element of class to his art. On December 2, 2014, Zac released his first musical project called “Highest Common Faktor”, which he spent 14 months on. He also produces high quality YouTube videos and freestyles over industry beats on his YouTube channel. Zac Flewids has performed at local events and truly has the ability to liven up an audience. As he gradually begins to acquire the attention in which he so greatly deserves, his work ethic continues to be intense and shows the determination and persistence in which he bears. Zac’s unique style differs greatly from the typical persona of a hip hop artist. He does not believe in being materialistic, and tries his best to make a difference without coming off as cliche. In specific, Zac recently produced a music video where he and his team made and brought sandwiches to the homeless community of Vancouver’s east side. To sum up Zac Flewids, he is a role model for modern day hip hop and has the ability to make a massive impact on the hip hop scene.  - Zac

Title Track from Sonreals "For The Town" ep.
Vernon, British Columbia Canada 2015

https://www.facebook.com/therealsonreal
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/for...
Lyrics
[Hook] (x2)
Everywhere we go, we hold it down
King of my city but, no, I don’t need no crown
Neighbors bitching, telling us to turn it down
So we just turn it up, turn it up, turn it up real loud
For the town
[Verse 1]
Shits heavy like an O.E – Rest in peace to Doe B
You ask me the game chose me
Got no fucking money, had to make these labels owe me
Backpack to a packed club
Manager need a back rub
Damn, homie going hard all week
Phone ringing, 4am, a bro getting no sleep
West coast time – no co-sign
No slow grind when they say it’s go time
We gonna hit em on some We Go shit
The success enough to get you on some emo shit
Some Gambino shit
Sipping champaine chased with some vino shit
09’ I was going to go ahead and leave this shit
Drop the ball on some goddamn Marino shit
Best believe that shit
Killin shit with no misdemean
In the studio talking about Vince McMahon
Don’t smoke weed or watch basketball so talking with rappers is interesting
Psychiatrist said I’ve lost it
Trying to rule the world on some mother fucking Nas shit
Do a turn up record then I switch it back to conscious
Yeah, a bro got options
Check the way I drop... this
[Hook]
[Verse 2]
One long day to one long dream
Taking out a record like I’m taking out my laundry
The way we running shit, you’d think I just signed up for Condi
By the time you catchup, check it, we already gone see (vroom vroom)
Baby, I done grew up on that Mobb Deep
So my first record kinda came off a little off beat
Went to get a tatty on my neck my Mommah stop me
Thank God, Mommah
You the shit
Touring like a fuckin’ insomniac
I give it 100% with every song I rap
You don’t like my shit, that’s alright and shit
Go make a youtube account and go write some shit
Dude, Vancouver made me this music bread me
I’ma raise the bar before I break the levy
You can ask any muh flucka out who met me
I’m nice
Fuckin' right
Neighbors bitchin’ cuz the beats are loud
Stick his head out the window, "Can you keep it down"
I just turn it up I guess we ain't speaking now
But at least I ain't seeing no police around
I’m grindin, shining like a diamond
I ain't really stopping till my record going diamond
I just rhymed that rhyme twice, damn it, I’m wilding
I should probably put this here chorus on consignment
[Hook]
[Bridge]
Extra, extra, read all about this shit going down
I turn one long day to one long dream
Now I don’t hear a sound, don’t hear a sound
Yeah, yeah, it’s going down
Yeah, yeah, it’s for the town

Sonreal - Go For Broke prod. Superville (NEW)

Sonreal - Go For Broke
Produced by Superville
Dj Booth Freestyle Series #33

Oft imitated but never equaled, the DJBooth Freestyle Series ran from February 2009 through June 2011. Its 250 total entries were the work of a veritable who’s-who of underground and emerging emcees, including rising stars like Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller. Now, it’s back for a second round.

The 33rd entry in the relaunched series comes courtesy of SonReal, the Vancouver rhymesayer who recently won Booth acclaim for Live This. On Go for Broke, the unsigned emcee flexes his lyrical muscles over original production by Superville. Fred Lozano provides original artwork to accompany the freestyle.

If this freestyle’s piqued your interest, you can hear more on SonReal’s One Long Day LP, available now for free streaming and download in the Booth.

Saukrates - #FYEO ft. Sonreal (New)

Saukrates featuring Sonreal - #FYEO
Produced by Rich Kidd
From his ep: Amani
Vancouver/Toronto 2015

Saukrates
arrived on the hip-hop scene of the early-Nineties, a post-Native
Tongues rapper and producer who pioneered the Canadian hip-hop scene. He
has been awarded multiple Juno nominations for Best Rap Recording and
through his career has collaborated with the likes of Drake, Nelly
Furtado, Nas, Common, Redman, and Xzibit to name a few.

A fixture
in the top-tiers of the Canadian hip-hop scene, he is present as a
rapper, singer or producer on almost every Canadian major label hip-hop
release over the past 20 years. Providing the likes of K-os, Swollen
Members, Jully Black, Rascalz, Kardinal Offishal, and Choclair with his
unique style of production that has become synonymous with the
Torontonian hip-hop sound. Recently he has maintained his prevalence
working with the best of the new breed of Canadian rappers such as:
Classified, Shad, Tre Mission, SonReal, and OB Obrien.

On
September 23rd, he is positioned to issue his 4th release, “Amani” a
4-track EP featuring co-production by Rich Kidd and Snaz, and guest
appearances by SonReal. The release of Amani is a defining moment in
Saukrates’ career as he wipes the slate clean to begin a new chapter. A
chapter in which Saukrates is more introspective, experimental and
fervent in his approach to music.

The EP begins with “Kingdom
Come”, based around an orchestral soul loop, chopped and spliced by
SNAZ, that sets the backdrop perfectly for Saukrates’ staccato flow.
Saukrates then harnesses a reflective tone on the Rich Kidd produced
“Amani” as he takes on the perspective of his fans on the first two
verses, answering their questions on the third verse. Rich Kidd then
provides a infatuated Saukrates with a smooth half-time strip club
friendly banger on “#FYEO” while Son Real lends his his smoked out
sultry vocals on the hook. The final track, “The Big Bang” is a tongue
twisting lyrical melee where he discusses his wife, his child and his
past, while still slipping in the necessary hip hop bravado. Throughout
the EP you can sense a re-birth or more fittingly for Saukrates an
artist definitively finding his stride.

In Saukrates’ succinct
words: “Kingdom come: street corner Amani: intellectual smoker’s
lounge #FYEO: burlesque show The Big Bang: cipher Result:
all club, all car, all life.”

Bio:
Young
De aka Demrick is a Recording Artist / Songwriter currently residing in

profile artists such as Xzibit, Kurupt, Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, B-Real
and Cypress Hill. He is also recognized as a protege of B-Real &
Xzibit.

The beginning of his career started in 2005 when he met
Kurupt in Philadelphia. At the time he was in a group and Kurupt urged
them to move to California. They took him up on the suggestion and in
2007 they released an album with Kurupt titled “Philly 2 Cali”.

In
2008 Young De released his solo debut mixtape titled “Audio Hustlaz
Vol. 1”, it was presented by DJ Skee. B-Real contributed to the mixtape
as a producer and featured on several tracks. Later that year Young De
released the “Homeland Security” mixtape which was a collaboration

Out. Due to the success of that song he has spent the past 2 years
touring with Xzibit.

In 2010 Cypress Hill released their 8th

featured on the street single It Ain’t Nothin . The video for this
single received rotation on all television outlets and landed him on the
Carson Daily Show. He also went on tour with Cypress, performing at
festivals like Rock am Ring and Rockin Rio. At the end of the year Young
De teamed up with DJ Fingaz, for yet another mixtape titled “De is for
Demrick”.

In 2011 Xzibit and Young created a music catalog for
the company Extreme Music/Sony ATV titled “Urban Ammo”. From that
catalog they chose two digital singles; Man On The Moon & What It
Is. These videos were shot by director Matt Alonzo and led to rotation
on MTV.
In mid 2011, Young De released an EP titled “Neva Look Back”

Ready 2 Go & What’s Good Remix.

Young De just released his

studio session with Cypress Hill. The two have started working on music
for his debut LP which has yet to be titled.

Formally known for his DEBUT MIXTAPE #LYRICAL22 www.datpiff.com/Willie-YC-Lyrical…xtape.664175.html

Bio

Willliam Takyi-Prah or better known for his stage name "Willie Young Conscious" is a promising Hip-Hop artist from Vancouver, British Columbia.

Although born and raised in Vancouver, will gets his best qualities from his parents who are of ghanaian decent. Since he was a child, respect, importance of education, and loyalty were some traits embedded into his mind at an early age. Second to William'€™s first talent which is music, is his love for basketball. The sport had taken him to various parts of the United States. Will travelled to cities such as Miami, Las Vegas, Seattle & LA; for highly anticipated AAU basketball tournaments, most of which had featured some of the top prospects in the nation. He later arrived at a conclusion to pursue his music career in place of his fond affection for basketball. Willie included the acronym "YC"€ in his artist name to capture two distinct meanings. The first of which is his well known alias, "Young Corleone". This was initially inspired by the movie "The Godfather"€, and one of his musical inspirations "Big L". With new found insights, Willie attained a level of higher consciousness, which led him to establish the name "Young Conscious". Will was introduced to music at an early age and has always been committed to reaching his full potential. As an artist Will passes down a powerful message to his audience of overcoming obstacles and striving through difficulty. He believes it is essential to stay true to one's personal endeavors. Positivity drives him as he tries to reflect that upon his fans. Willie's relentless vision of success and appreciation for his music puts him on the fast track to making a household name, while growing an army of loyal fans.

Sonreal Wheres Waldo full album

Sonreal
Album: Where's Waldo?
Vernon, British Columbia Canada 2011

I went into Where’s Waldo knowing that I needed to confront something in my life. I can’t write my music for everyone, and not everyone is going to love me. I’ve always made my music using an outside eye making sure I wasn’t saying anything my listeners wouldn’t like, or look down upon. Therefore, I haven’t been completely honest. With Where’s Waldo I dug deeper then I ever have before, exposed myself, and said the words I felt in my heart. Whether it was something deep conceptually or just a song having fun, if it was on my mind, I said it. I swear sometimes, I’m not perfect, I don’t always sing on key. These are the things that make this record unique. I am extremely grateful that the artists and producers involved with this provided me a platform to say the things I did, and further our success as a whole. With that being said, come find me. Where’s Waldo?

Matt Brevner ft. Moka Only - Crashed ft. Moka Only (Eclectricity)

Matt Brevner Featuring Moka Only - Crashed
Produced by Sonny Parmar
From his 4th studio album: Eclectricity
Vancouver, British Columbia Canada 2014
https://urbnet.bandcamp.com/album/eclectricity

Eclectricity is a ten song announcement of an Artist Arriving. One of Western Canada's premiere HipHop artists, Matt Brevner makes hybrid music, because he's a hybrid human. Half-Trinidadian, Half-Japanese, and coming of into his own in the age of Everything Known, Matt Brevner is a refreshing Artist taking risks and seeing the payoffs. Combining golden flows and butter tones with a multi-genre sonic mining that borrows from everywhere and still feels entirely unique, the Vancouver, BC based Emcee/Songwriter/Producer (AND accomplished Video Director) is Crushing Right Now.

Sonically, Brevner's influences are all over the map. From Metric to French Montana and everywhere in between, Brevner pulls influences from sonics, song concepts, vocal effects and production tweaks - Nothing is off limits to add more insight to make dope music. Wanting to get his name out further, Brevner is making Eclectricity into a double disk with a bonus album called the Bushido Project, an incredible album in and of itself, that he's just throwing in there for free. Brevner is doing this because he knows you'll want to hear more from him, right away.

In the age of Innovation, Invention is Dead. Nothing is new. Only new combinations of old tricks bring the kids to the table. There's no doubt that Brevner is an oncoming artist with a huge upside. He's rapping about subjects something that matter. He's producing music at a very high level. He also directs his own videos, which on occasion, win awards. This Album is Eclectic, the Songs Electric, the Result: Expected. Matt Brevner is Fuckin Here.

Sonreal - Honor Roll ft. Willa (One Long Day)

Sonreal & Willa performing Honor Roll from Sonreal's mixtape, One Long Day
Produced by Superville
Vernon, British Columbia, Canada 2014
#OneLongDay is SonReal's first solo release since the Juno Nominated album, The Closers. After the success of his single Everywhere We Go, SonReal announced that he would be giving his next project out for free as well as dropping his debut commercial album later in 2014. Till then, we have this: One Long Day, an incredibly concise piece of work. With production from; Arthur McArthur, Rich Kidd, Chin Injeti, Chef Byer, Alex Lustig, Superville, 2oolman, and Burd & Keyz; SonReal effortlesly shares his story over A grade beats. A few special features from Kardinall Offishall, Shad, Andreena Mill and Willa help set this project aside from your average free mixtape.. It should actually be called an album, because its fucking great.

SonReal is a Juno and MMVA nominated artist whose unique approach to hip-hop has allowed him to sustain a loyal and growing domestic fan base. SonReal’s success took shape online when several of his music videos racked up over hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube. He was able to maintain buzz around his music with the release of a number of mix tapes over the years. Where’s Waldo?(2011), Words I Said(2012), and Good News (2012). SonReal’s mixtapes travelled quickly online and received support from some of the largest hip-hop blogs including 2dopeboyz.com, nahright.com and hiphopdx.com. “Good News” is widely regarded as one of the key stepping-stone in SonReal’s career to-date, setting the stage for a recording deal with independent label Black Box Recordings.

With the help of a label for the first time (Black Box Recordings), SonReal embarked on the journey of his first collaborative project with fellow Canadian rapper/producer Rich Kidd. Rich Kidd had popularity on the East Coast of Canada and SonReal had conquered the West Coast. The Closers (their collaborative album) was an introduction for each of them to new markets in an insulated and organic matter. Together they toured nationally and secured their first Juno Nomination (Canadian equivalent to the Grammy’s) for Rap Recording of the Year. The success of this record grew their national fan base, secured profile looks from the Canadian market and created a platform to launch their own independent projects.

Everywhere We Go was SonReal’s first release coming away from The Closers campaign. The plan was to seed and test the market, engage his fans and deliver a different caliber of music, all while delivering amazing visual pieces that set him apart in the hip hop world (both domestically and internationally).  The video for the single caught fire and received well over 1,000,000 views online with more then half the views coming from the United States.  SonReal followed up with his best work to date, an album quality mixtape titled, One Long Day.  The quality of One Long Day was undeniable and paved the way for SonReal to tour nationally in Canada as not only a support for some of the countries most successful bands, but as a headliner in his own right.  His fanbase was growing at an exponential rate and it was time to head south.

Shortly after the release of One Long Day, SonReal embarked on a 53 date US tour with Seattle based artist, Grieves.  The two performed in every major market in the USA allowing SonReal to spread his music to fans south of the boarder.  With a new focus on conquering the international market, SonReal is gearing up for his own “Everywhere We Go Tour” throughout the USA as well as recording his international debut album.

Matt Brevner ft. Tom Macdonald - Dark Side Of The Moon

Matt Brevner ft. Tom Macdonald - Dark Side Of The Moon
Vancouver, British Columbia Canada 2014

Bio:
With the few successes of Vancouver’s remote hip-hop scene fading away into history, Matt Brevner’s arrival in marked the start of a new generation of game changers for the city. Shaped by his Trinidadian and Japanese roots, Brevner’s gritty honesty, matched by his consistent hustle, set a new standard for the underground.

In 2009 his debut album, Magnum Opus, received airplay by Vancouver’s Top 40 radio station. The single “Never Going to be My Friend” was featured on MTV Canada’s Peak Season. One years later, he dropped his sophomore album Blissful Ignorance, which boasted over 12,000 downloads in its first two weeks. It was an unprecedented accomplishment for a Vancouver indie hip-hop artist. He quickly followed up with another unexpected victory- a feature track on Bass Nectar’s Cozza Frenzy album.

The following year Brevner payed homage to the samurai’s code of honour with The Bushido Project. Having fused sample-based hip-hop with Katana sharp precision, the album’s progressive sound caught the attention of Sway Calloway. Soon after, Brevner was anonymously submitted into Hot97′s Who’s Next competition. He reached the top spot, but unfortunately had to forfeit due to a late submission. That same year he featured in and produced “Jitters” with Madchild of Swollen Members and Dutch Robinson of The Ohio Players. The single propelled Madchild’s Dopesick album to #1 on the overall Canadian iTunes chart, as well as #6 on its US counterpart.

Bio:
As his solo career continues to soar to new heights, Madchild is sharply focused on creating captivating hip-hop. He is poised to have an even more successful 2013 with a brand new solo album "Lawn Mower Man", and a stint on this year's Warped Tour.

Since the release of his debut solo album "Dope Sick", Madchild has refused to rest. After many years of success with Swollen Members, Madchild branched out creatively to become a solo artist and was rewarded with the highest chart position of his career as "Dope Sick" debuted at #3 on the Canadian Billboard Top 200 and #7 on the US Heatseekers chart. Madchild wasted no time taking to the road on a sold-out Canadian tour alongside Tech N9ne, which he immediately followed-up with a 40-date headlining tour across the country performing to packed venues. Madchild has relentlessly toured for the past few years earning fans in every city on tours with La Coka Nostra, Tech N9NE, Redman, and others. Madchild capped off an amazing year with a Juno Award nomination for "Dope Sick" in the category of "Rap Recording of the Year", as well as nominations for a Sirius XFM and a Canadian Independent Music awards.

Swollen Members have been an underground anomaly for more than a decade with worldwide success and accolades. The group are currently riding a wave of success, winning 4 Junos Awards and adding a nomination for a 5th award in 2012 for their "Dagger Mouth" album. In addition to their Juno awards, Swollen Members have also nabbed seven Much Music video awards and four Western Canadian Music awards. Swollen Members have collectively racked up 35 million views on Youtube, and earned both platinum and gold sales certification for sales of their albums. Swollen Members have supplemented their accolades with tours all over the world with acts such as Ghostface of the Wu-Tang Clan, Nelly Furtado and Black Eyed Peas. The group's loyal following of fans (known as Battle Axe Warriors) are some of the most fanatical, with many fans sporting the group's battle axe logo tattooed on their body.

After spending a couple years battling personal demons, Madchild took his life back with the help of his family friends and the unwavering support of his fans. Madchild renounced his former lifestyle and found solace in the arms of his music. Bunkering down in his home studio secluded from the outside world, Madchild has enjoyed a creative rebirth by crafting some of the best verses of his entire career. In addition to his creative rebirth, Madchild is now giving back to his community as he has started speaking at local high schools in British Columbia and to youth groups about perils of gang violence and drug addiction in Canada, which has helped inspire youth to make positive lifestyle choices.
